bird song; co2bird
concept

below is 'bird song', a electronic sound interactive installation . six glass enclosures provide a simulated environment; one holds the plant and light, another electronic circuit for the sound, which responds to the the carbon dioxide levels in the air.
The bird robot senses the carbon dioxide (CO2) level in the air via a small CO2 sensor.
This sensor is mounted on a wall of the space and sends data wirelessly to the bird robot.
The plants in the glass and number of people in a space breathing in oxygen and exhaling CO2 has an immediate effect on the sensor.
My robot takes a reading of the CO2 level in real time and in response it makes a sound like a bird.

Birds are useful as bioindicators of environmental pollution.
The metaphoric relation is that bird needs proper enviromrnt condition in nature to survive and and plant needs co2 and light. Here, my simulated bird is environmental indicator of CO2 level. The bird sound directly are affected by the nature and the human activity in the space.
My art work is about the interdependent relationships of human and nature to the machine as vital entity to vital entity.

bird song (public version)
using WSN(wireless sensor network)

we can't hear the bird song any more in the city. bird song is an interactive sound public project . electronic bird robot in the tree responds to the the carbon dioxide levels in the air. Here, my simulated bird is environmental indicator of CO2 level.
birds are useful as bioindicators of environmental pollution.Pollution of the environment has direct and indirect impacts on birds.

actually, this is bigl version of my 'bird song' public project. The bird robot senses the carbon dioxide (CO2) level in the air via a small CO2 sensor. The trees , number of people and cars in the street emiting CO2 has an immediate effect on the sensor. My robot takes a reading of the CO2 level in real time and in response it makes a sound like a bird.

but, In the future, I want to develop my project into using WSN(wireless sensor network) A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wireless network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using sensors
to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions.
In addition to one or more sensors, each node in a sensor network is typically equipped with a radio transceiver , a small microcontroller, and an energy source.

The artificial bird sound directly are affected by the environmental condition.
My research as an artist focuses on making explicit the interdependent relationships of human and nature to machine as vital entity to vital entity.
